Power demand deficit narrows to 10.5% in the second week of June
Increasing temperatures in many parts of the country resulted in the demand deficit narrow to 10.5% in the second week of June from 19.7% in the previous week. The deficit is still higher than what was recorded the previous month at 8.8%.
The peak power demand in this second week of June was 163.30GW which is 10.5% less than the 182.45GW recorded at the same time last year.
Further easing of the lockdown implemented to stem the coronavirus crisis will likely narrow the deficit further in the rest of the June and subsequent months.
EESL to set up 2000 EV charging stations in 2020-21
Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) is sticking to its pre-COVID plan to set up around 2000 EV charging stations around the country this fiscal year. It has currently installed around 300 such stations across the country. Although, not all of them have been operational due to disruptions caused by COVID.
The plan is to set up nearly 10,000 such stations across the country over the next 2-3 years. It has tied up with various public and private institutions to set up this pan India EV charging infrastructure.
