DISCOMs’ outstanding due to gencos rise 1.3% to 1.13 lakh crore

Total outstanding dues owed by DISCOMs to power producers rose 1.3% year-on-year to Rs 1,13,227 crore in December, as compared to the Rs 1,11,762 owed December of last year, according to the PRAAPTI portal.

Total dues have also increased month-on-month from Rs 1,13,081 crore in November this year.

Meanwhile, the total overdue amount (amount not cleared within 45 days grace period), increased to Rs 1,01,436 crore from Rs 98,334 crore in the same month last year.


Power trade volume grows 54% in November at IEX

Power trade volume at the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) grew 54% year-on-year to 9,477 million units (MUs) in November this year.

“The Indian Energy Exchange realized 9,477 MU cleared volume in November 2021 comprising 6,333 MU in the Conventional Power Market, 457 MU in the Green Power Market and 2687 MU in the Certificate Market comprising ESCerts and REC. Overall, the exchange realized 53.8 per cent YoY growth across all its market segments,” an IEX statement said.

The average monthly price at Rs. 3.1 per unit saw a significant 62 per cent month-on-month price reduction mainly due to increased liquidity on the supply-side with the sell-bids at 1.8X of the cleared volume.
