DISCOM’s outstanding dues to power GENCOs rise 37% to Rs 1.33 lakh crore in August

The total amount owed by DISCOMs to power producers rose over 37% year on year to Rs 1.33 lakh crore in August 2020. This amount was Rs 96,963 in August 2019, according to the PRAAPTI portal.

The total overdue amount, which is the amount not cleared within the 45 day grace period, stood at Rs 1,20,439 crore as against Rs 78,646 crore in August 2019.

This amount continues to trend higher indicating ever increasing strains in the sector.


India’s installed Renewable Energy capacity stands at 89.22 GW at the end of September

India’s installed renewable energy capacity reached 89.22 GW as on the 30th of September 2020, according to the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE).

The 89.22 GW includes 38.12 GW of wind power, 36.05 GW of solar, 10.31 GW of biopower and 4.74 GW of small hydro power capacity.

A further 48.21 GW of projects are at various stages of implementation and 25.64 GW capacity are under various stages of bidding, the ministry said in its monthly cabinet report for September.
