India’s peak power demand hits record 200.57GW in July
India’s peak power demand hit a new record of 200.57GW in the month of July, a 17.6% increase year-on year. This, according to system operations highlights for July 2021, put out by POSOCO.
Average daily consumption recorded stood at 4049MU, a 10.6% increase year-on-year.
Overall, many generation and consumption metrics hit their highs this month.
Power market volume sees 37% growth
The total volume of electricity traded at the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) stood at 7322 million units (MU) in July 2021, which is a 37% year-on-year increase.
Increased economic activity, competitive power prices coupled with flexible procurement and a diverse spectrum of market segments and participants have enabled the exchange to increase the volume.
