Electricity Supply rises in January after five months of decline

An analysis of the daily load despatch data from the Power System Operation Corporation Ltd. (POSOCO) indicates that India’s electricity supply rose 3.25% in the month of January after five straight months of decline.

Power supply rose to 106.36 billion units in January 2020, as compared to 103.01 billion units in January 2019. However, the rise could be a result of being compared to a lower base as electricity demand grew at the slowest pace in two years in January 2019.


7,592 MW of renewable capacity commissioned up to December 2019: Minister for New & Renewable Energy

Minister of New & Renewable Energy, R. K. Singh said about 7,592 MW of renewable capacity has been commissioned in the year 2019-20 until December 2019 while another 34,160 MW of renewable capacity is under various stages of implementation.
