Electric vehicles double in 2 years in Mumbai
The number of electric vehicles in Mumbai and in Maharashtra have doubled in the past two years, according to the latest data from the transport department. EV registrations crossed the 40,000 mark in Maharashtra in August while registrations in Mumbai were 3,922.
EVs comprised of 1% of the total new vehicle registrations in 2021. The state has set a target of increasing that share to 10% by 2025.
