Loans worth Rs 1.18 lakh cr sanctioned under DISCOM liquidity package

Loans worth Rs 1.18 lakh crore have been sanctioned by state run NBFCs Power Finance Corporation (PFC) and REC to DISCOMs under the liquidity package announced by the Ministry of Finance. These loans are meant to inject liquidity into cash strapped DISCOMs impacted by the pandemic.


DISCOMs’ outstanding due to GENCOs rise 28% to Rs 1.38 lakh crore

The total amount owed by the power distribution companies (DISCOMs) to power generation companies (GENCOs) has risen to Rs 1.38 lakh crore in September 2020, which is a 28% year-on-year rise. DISCOMs owed Rs 1.07 lakh crore to GENCOs in September 2019.

Meanwhile, the total overdue amount, which is the amount not cleared after 45 days, stands at Rs 1.26 lakh crore as against Rs 0.85 lakh crore at the same time, one year ago.
