Solar capacity addition down 68% in 9 months
According to Mercom’s latest report, solar capacity addition in the third-quarter of 2020 were 80% less than the 2177MW capacity added in the same period in 2019. For the total nine month period of the year, the capacity addition was down 68% to 1.7 GW from the 5.48 GW added in the same period of 2019.
Although capacity addition has been picking up, the numbers are a way off pre COVID additions owing to disruptions caused by the lockdown which include disruptions in supply chains, imports and movement of manpower.
Power producers request financial support from the Govt
The Association of Power Producers (APP) has written to the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman seeking key financial support required for the revival of the infrastructure industry.
Ashok Khurana, Director, APP points to the stress due to systemic issues and the challenges with financing in the letter.
